Miniature Traditional Romanian Holidays Meal

First of all, I want to thank all my followers, i just got two more... Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my blog and for liking my humble and inexperienced work.

Today, I am posting photos of my latest miniature, which is a table loaded with holidays goodies. I can assure you, it's all oh, so delicious!!!! No wonder why all Romanians cannot wait for the holidays to dig in! Spicy tasty sausages, yummy salad (with mayonnaise), meat rolls covered in cabbage leaves, polenta, Romanian sweet bread and incredibly fine red wine... I can't wait for the Holidays too!!! :) The "fabric" all is seated on is actually a printie of a traditional towel, with a specific Romanian pattern.

This miniature is part of a handmade contest, and most of the things participating are traditionally-inspired jewellery and clothes, so I am pretty excited wondering how will Romanians welcome  miniature art... Today, I should find out who the finalists are (out of 400 pieces of work). Please keep my fingers crossed!

Well, I hope at least my mini fellows will appreciate my work, I am pleased with it (seeing I still consider myself a newbie at this) as I find it pretty realistically looking. Thank you very much for reading my post and I hope you have an awesome day!

Finished Egyptian Roombox

Hello friends! I have finally finished my roombox with Egyptian influences... I worked hard at it and now it is on its way to the lady who ordered it. As I said, I followed her instructions concerning the color of the walls, the positioning of all things in the room, details she wanted me to add to make it more personal...

I have built a sofa inspired by Egyptian furniture I found online. The colour of the sofa is a light beige, but my camera did not catch that too well...

The carpet on the floor is an actual piece of fabric that my godfather brought me from his pilgrimage to places where Lord Jesus walked when He was on Earth. It is really beautiful, it has gold thread embroidery and it depicts a scene from Ancient Egypt (which happens to be the thing the receiver of this roombox is most passionate about). The coffee table is a plastic toy one. It used to be pink, but I painted it with acrylic paint and coated it with some cheap no-name nail polish. I have made the cookies and the plates, but the tea pot and the cups are jewelry findings and a charm, all painted by me.

I thought it would be funny to have the dog sniff the cookies... :)

As for the birdcage...well, I worked a lot to make it. Actually, i was so afraid to start doing that because I knew it would be hard work. In fact, had it not been for the birdcage and animals, I would have finished this roombox a long time ago! The birds are three small parrots (I had been sent pictures of them). For feathers, I cut small pieces off of some bigger real feathers. The bars of the birdcage were made of floral wire. I regret not working more on the "foot" of the birdcage, it looks kind of weird standing on that tiny thing compared to the size of the rest of it...

The turtle aquarium is another story... I bought the transparent box from Daiso; it used to hold some type of plastic bug like it was a piece in a museum. I made the turtles following the details in the photos this lady sent me. They are, actually, red eared sliders. I thought a lot about the water in the tank and finally found the solution: clear candle gel. It made some bubbles as I melted it and stirred it, but I realized that it might not be so bad after all: aquariums have lots of bubbles in them, right??? :)

This is my piece, I hope you like it and I am looking forward to sharing my next creation with you. Thank you for the time you have spent on my blog!

Egyptian Roombox

A while ago, I got my first commission for a miniature room. I was so happy and excited, I couldn't wait to get started working on it! It is taking me a lot of time to finish, though, because I need to take care of my family and home first, and I only have a little time to work (twice a week) when my children go to extracurricular activities after kindergarten.

Anyways...here is what I am working on: a young lady asked me to create a room for her sister's birthday. It has to contain Egypt-related items, as well as some birds and animals that the family owns.

I know, it's not perfect, but I guess I'm a pioneer for this type of art in my country, I haven't seen anybody else doing this - for selling, at least. I suppose my customer will like it anyway, she has chosen me to do this for her after seeing my other roomboxes, which were not even this good. besides, I really hope the final result will look beautiful. I still need a couch on the left-side wall, a picture above it, a big piece of furniture on the right-side wall and a turtle aquarium on it, a coffee table in front of the reading nook (with a couple of cups and cookies on it), a parrot cage and a caniche dog. I also have a piece of tapestry in miniature from Egypt which I could lay on the floor as a carpet.

The view from the window was chosen by the customer, as well as the content of the bookcase. I need to add a few other personal pictures of the receiver. The flourishes on the wood panels are laser cuts, glued to the panels then painted. I like how they look, it;s like an intricate sculpted pattern. Some of the books were constructed one by one, but there are also two rows of books that are just printies. However, they look realistic enough. The vase is a beautiful bead, in tones of browns and reds, although it is pretty much covered now by the leaves.

I can't wait to to show you more photos as the project develops, I really hope you like it and I would be grateful if you gave me advice, as you are more experienced than I am in this field of miniatures. Thank you so much for stopping by!

La vie en rose

Hi again, dear friends, after such a long absence... A lot has changed in my life since then, I have become the mother of the fourth child and I am really happy for it! I am really blessed!

Sometime last year, I started a project... I had some idea about what I wanted to do with it, but life got in the way and a few days ago I decided I should finish it already, because I have so many other plans for various things (including my first commission for a roombox :) )... So I did everything I could to make the final touches and here it is today, waiting for some feedback from you!

You might recognize a few items, those were sent to me as gifts from other fellow miniaturists. Thank you so much! I'm talking about the bag, the roses frame, the shell display, the beauty set on the vanity table. the perfume bottles. Everything else was made by me: the bed was made out of scratch, the table foot was made by aligning a few beads together, the stool was made by using an old glue cap. The mirror brings back a lot of memories, I received it from a friend in the UK when I was a teen! :) I just framed it with some border stickers. To make the roses look smaller, i just ripped off a few petals from some paper roses I had in my stash.

The view from the window is a cutout from a magazine, the lamp is a gift, as well as the box of chocolates on the shelf. The bookcase is made of balsa wood. It was the first time I worked with this type of material and I loved it because I could cut it so easily! The feet of the chair are pieces of toothpicks. :) I bough a whole bunch of them especially for this kind of things... You can also see a lot of printies. Thank you to everyone that help us by posting templates and so on...!
The armoir doors open and, in there, you can see some clothes. I am actually planning on making a couple more dresses to hang in  there, but I was too anxious to wait until then to post pictures... :)
The boxes and trunk are empty. The shoes came from a doll that my daughters got as a present, but they were too young to play with this kind of dangerous toys so I took them off of the doll's feet.
The roombox is covered with pretty paper in tone with the colours inside the room. I really hope you like it. It's a lot of pink, I know, but I made this with a special kind of girl in mind...there are some girls who REALLY love pink, you know? :) Besides, it helped me with  rendering this nostalgic feel... I look forward to hearing from you, I appreciate your comments very much! Thank you!

Breslo.ro, cel mai important magazin handmade

Acum ceva vreme, mi-am deschis micul meu magazin handmade.
